For this advert, I wanted to mimic the grim tone of previous NSPCC adverts where they show incredibly realistic depictions of child neglect and abuse to strike a chord with adults. NSPCC has two notable sides. One is targeted towards children, mainly using bright green as a signature part of the brand and featuring the child-friendly mascot ‘Buddy’. The other side is targeted towards adults, utilising shocking images to provoke them to help by donating to the charity. Mine is inspired by this side. I couldn’t take photos of children for the advert for obvious reasons so I instead settled on taking picture of something children are associated with- dolls. I used make up to create bruises which I then enhanced during photoshop editing. This was to clearly show a metaphor of child abuse without actually having to show a real child. The line at the top reinforces the connection between the doll and children. I also darkened the colour palette a lot to a grim scheme to reference the colours used in other NSPCC adverts.
