Big Issue- my cover

 The Last Dinner Party edition-

For this issue, I wanted to include elements that aligned with the Big Issue's ideology while also still being relevant to the zeitgeist. I decided to focus on the up coming British girl band, the last dinner party, who have been gaining traction recently. I felt that their views aligned with the Big Issue's as being all for freedom of expression (as the cover line suggests) and also being known for trying to welcome everyone- no matter who they are- into their world. The 'you are cordially invited' was taken straight from their website and ties in the idea of everyone being welcome and equals perfectly since everyone has been 'invited'. Other cover lines also align with a left leaning political ideology such as 'the stinging reality of the two-child benefit cap' highlighting that poorer families are not receiving the help that they deserve to be able to raise all their children in a good environment because they are only getting funds for two of their children. The Big Issue brought this to light because they believed it was wrong that many single mothers were left to suffer, therefore aligning themselves with a left leaning view. Finally, I maintained the house style of the Big Issue with the split mast head, sell line 'a hand up, not a handout', and a consistent colour scheme that complimented the main image. If I were to improve, I'd make the main image bigger to showcase the artists more and then erase some of the mast head to go behind the head like many other Big Issue copies have done.
